30th Anniversary
CAEX @ 30
Present and past members of CAEX celebrated the club's 30th anniversary on 24 June 2012. We were very fortunate to have a cool but fine day and even some sunshine! We began the celebrations with a 2 hour wander around Westerfolds Park, followed by a BBQ lunch. In true CAEX ('Cakes') style this was followed by a wonderful afternoon tea. The highlight was a birthday cake baked and beautifully decorated by our President Susan Fitzpatrick. Another highlight was a slide show of about 600 photos taken over the 30 years - fascinating to see all the places we have walked over the years.
For those interested in the early days of the club, or those who just want to reminiscence, some our our early newsletters are attached below as well as some anniversary editions of the newsletter.

CAEX is run by members who volunteer their time. We will respond to your enquiry as quickly as we can but please do not be concerned if it is a few days before you hear from us.
CAEX does not have club rooms. We typically hold only one formal meeting a year - our Annual General Meeting which takes place in February. The club uses this website, a monthly e-newsletter and email to communicate with members.
CAEX runs activities most weekends including a number of social activities. Although we don't have many formal meetings we do have lots of opportunities to have fun and walk together. See our Activities page for more information.

Activities
Last update -- 14 June 2020
Due to the reintroduction of COVID-19 restrictions covering the Greater Melbourne Metropolitan Area all activities have been cancelled until further notice.
CAEX generally organises two walks per calendar month and these are typically on a Sunday. Most walks are easy to medium day walks of around 10kms or less. Weekends away are also a regular feature and can involve either camping or accommodation in a caravan park, or shared accommodation, with day walks organised on each day. We also do occasional extended trips interstate and overseas. The calendar is regularly updated as walks are added to the program. Click or tap the activity in the calendar for more information on the walk.
Prospective members are welcome to attend most walks and activities (not extended or overseas trips) as temporary members for the duration of the walk or activity that they register for. Prior to commencing the walk or activity temporary members are required to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form acknowledging the risks and obligations of participating. More information is provided on the Join Us page.
During summer months, walks in forest areas are automatically cancelled on total fire ban days or if a Code Red fire danger warning has been issued for the area in which the activity is being held. Walks in all areas may be cancelled when the forecast temperature is 32 degrees or higher.
